I don't remember the exact year I got my first BMX bike. It was the early 80s, and the bike was a Diamondback. It was my daily rider, and I took that thing all over town. I only ran one track with it, and other than that I did street riding. That was the only BMX bike I've owned, as I transitioned into mountain bikes as I got older. I always missed BMX, though, and seeing all the bikes that I lusted after back then is a real treat.

hey wheelman-
why not get a cruiser and get back into it? i'm 46... currently getting blown off the track by guys in their 50's- but not for long i hope! been riding and training the last 6 months, getting in shape and the wife really likes that if you know what i mean! currently riding a 20" a friend loaned me, has really helped with the bike handling skills. i'm hitting the bmx park a couple times a week and doing friday night races: 45 + cruiser class. friends may come and go, but bmx is forever man.

I've considered that. Only problem is, the only track I know of in the area is about 60 miles away, and it's all through Dallas and surrounding cities. The track is in Desoto TX. I may get a street BMX and go screw around near where I live, and then if I find a close track I'll jump on a cruiser or even build up a long-top-tube 20" and go have some fun.

DO IT!!!
I ride an MTB as well as a 20", and even though they are bikes, it's a different experience. I love the BMX bike feel!

Trimix lives in Florida. He's an older guy (42?) and he rides, you should hit him up and he can show you the local spots, or at least the park he goes to!

Boy, I got some memories. Black Factory Kuwahara, Kuwy Laser Light and then a GT Auburn were some of my first bikes. The factory kuwy first in about 1985ish. I still have the elbow scar from a bad wipe-out when I was in Grade 6. I still have the Auburn 20CR in my garage.
Now I'm getting back into the scene and just bought a used Solid KM complete to mess around with. I plan on buying the '08 Element as well in a month when they are released.
Nice to see some others in the same boat as me.
